BCG Matrix simplified !!!

Friends today I will be discussing BCG matrix, Which confuses many of us even today when its components are used as jargon's in many of the organisations,
and it is one of the most important tool for determining the Portfolio evaluation strategy.

 Cash Cows -
A stagnant position, which the is highest revenue earner in the portfolio.
Not to be disturbed but to be harvested. high market share in a low growth market.

Stars - High market share & high market growth,
needs to be nurtured and investment to be pumped in to attain the Cash Cow status.

? [Question Mark] : Low market share in a high growth market, only two things can be done with a ? either divest and withdraw from the market or prioritize aiming to be a Star.

Dog : Low market share and a low market growth [i.e. neither the market nor the product is able to attain growth].
The only thing to be done in this case is to kill the product or go for rejuvenating the entire product.

FOR NON-MANAGEMENT People

From a layman's perspective how one can use the BCG matrix in personal life.

Cash cows are your ultimate assets that you should not disturb but just keep harvesting it. [your Job, Fixed income plans]

Stars are those things that you know you are good at and need to further strengthen it to make it a cash cow. [Your inspirational job position, financial health, physical health, diet].

? [Question mark] - Either do it properly or get rid of it.
[Your sales targets, all the things that frustrate's you whether boss is yelling at you or the clients are complaining].

Dog - When you feel like nothing can be done. Just drop it and move on.
[got a pink slip or your business partner cheats you]
